Get involved - help us STOP the Excess Project

It might seem as if the Excess Project is too big and backed by too many powerful interests to stop it - but don't you believe that, we can still stop this misguided corporate welfare scheme, and can instead work to ensure that Lake Street and South Minneapolis continue to be unique and vital places in our City.

But we need your help to do so. Here's a short list of things you can do to help make our city a better place:

1) Get on our mailing list

And we'll let you know what's going on, with regular updates about the Excess Project and the Lake Street Repaving.

We'll also be able to let you know about our workshops and presentations, where we'll meet to discuss what kind of city we want to help create. Just go to our subscription page to sign up and receive our updates.

2) Participate in the STRIDE workshops

Come to the meetings we'll be holding this fall. We're hoping to be able to get together with many of our neighbors to figure out alternatives for the misguided and destructive Excess Project, and also to work to influence the outcomes of the ongoing Lake Street Repaving project.

Make sure to sign up on our mailing list so that we can notify you of upcoming workshops.

3) Contact your public officials

And let them know how you feel about the Excess Project and about the direction that the Lake Street Repaving project is taking. They're supposed to represent us, so give them a piece of your mind.

4) Get a lawnsign

Get a sign for your yard or your business, and let people know that there are many of us who are opposed to taxpayer-subsidized corporate welfare for Wells Fargo and Abbott Hospital. The STRIDE "STOP the Excess Project" signs are beautifully handcrafted with spray paint by Ken Avidor, resident genius. You can get one for FREE by emailing Ken.

5) Volunteer with STRIDE

We are always looking for people to help us with fliering, meetings, actions, etc. Just go to our contact us page and get in touch with any of us to set up a time to meet and talk.

6) Donate to STRIDE

We need funds to cover costs for our website, for photocopies, for paint, and for banner materials.

You can now donate online with any major credit card - just click on the "Make a Donation" button below.

Donations are handled by PayPal, and are a fast, easy and secure way of helping STRIDE pay its bills.

If you prefer to do it the old-fashioned way, you can send your check or money order, made out to "STRIDE", to
